With our 4 series of Transatlantic Sessions for BBC and RTE, Aly Bain, director Mike Alexander and I can fairly claim to have done our bit in rescuing Scottish and Irish traditional music and American Country from their respective Aran sweater and rhinestone glitter caricatures. It was the original Transatlantic Sessions that set the benchmark and we’re delighted, almost fourteen years after that glorious two weeks at the Montgreenan Mansion House in Ayrshire, to be answering at last the (literally) thousands of calls there have been for CD release, this volume - CD17 of 18 Tracks and including all 34 artists - being the third of the projected trio. Thanks are due to BBC as copyright holder and the singers and instrumentalists who created a legend and had a ball en route.
