• The New Lost City Ramblers -- Mike Seeger, John Cohen & Tom Paley -- were key figures in the folk song revival movement of the late 50s, introducing old time string band music to eager city and college audiences. Far from mere copyists, they left their own stamp on the music, generated by true understanding and emotional connection.

• Disc one is a selection from the early years of the original trio 1958 -- 62. In 1963 Tracey Schwartz replaced Tom Paley and the second disc covers the new lineup' s recordings over the following 10 years

• Disc three takes another dip into the archive placing the Ramblers' performances alongside some of the many field recordings they made of the musicians who inspired them -- Doc Boggs, Roscoe Holcomb, Tom Ashley, Rev Gary Davis etc

• A handsomely produced set demonstrating the breadth of their repertoire -- a real cornucopia of rural American roots music. Each disc is accompanied by a detailed booklet
