• For the first time ever on CD, Charles Mingus and Eric Dolphy’s complete long-unavailable April 16, 1964 Bremen concert, originally issued only on three hard to find LPs.

• This splendid performance was the last complete concert featuring Johnny Coles with the group (he would collapse due to a stomach ulcer the following day while playing in Paris and had to leave the band).

• Personnel : Charles Mingus, bass & conductor; Johnny Coles, trumpet; Eric Dolphy, alto sax, flute & bass clarinet; Clifford Jordan, tenor sax; Jaki Byard, piano; Dannie Richmond, drums - Bremen, Germany, Thursday, April 16, 1964.

• 2CD - Total Time: 59:32 min - 6 tracks - Includes 12-page booklet.

• Note: This recording comes from non-professional broadcast tapes. Although the sound quality is very good throughout, some small imperfections are noticeable. Every effort has been made to correct them using advanced technologies, but a few were impossible to suppress without affecting this important music.

Reviews
Jazz Journal - Peter Gamble
The recording quality varies a little but never devalues the power of the music.
Jazz Rag - Greg Murphy
The sound quality is good enough not to divert the listener from the music, which has such power and cohesion it really shouldn't be missed.
