The lives and personalities of three lonely children - the truculent, independent Mary, the spoiled, angry invalid Colin and the good-natured, unworldly country boy Dickon - are forever changed when they meet and forge a friendship as they bring back to life a locked secret garden that becomes their special refuge.

Maggie Smith stars alongside the three children in this Warner Bros. Picture. The beautifully exotic and enchanting musical score was composed by the immensely talented Polish composer Zbigniew Preisner. Preisner´s past credits include memorable scores for The Double Life of Veronique, Europa, Europa and Louis Malle´s acclaimed Damage.
