• Ahmad Jamal has justly earned the sobriquets "living legend" and "elder statesman of jazz piano” after many years of impeccable playing and stylistic development

• Though famed for his trio work, on two of these three Dreyfus albums he uses different formations. "Live in Paris 1996" is considered by Jamal himself to be one of his very best recordings and features a septet including George Coleman (tenor sax). "In Search of " was recorded with his regular partners Idris Mohamed (drums) & James Cammack (bass) but this ensemble is augmented on "It's Magic" by the exciting percussionist Manolo Badrena
