• All surviving music from the concerts given by the John Coltrane Quintet with Eric Dolphy in Frankfurt, Stuttgart and Berlin in 1961. All tracks previously unissued.

• Although sound quality is obviously not perfect, these extended tracks (taken from radio broadcasts and amateur recordings) give us a wonderful glimpse into the fabulous chemistry between Trane and Dolphy.

• These German performances are full of excitement, with Trane and Dolphy exploring their own musical limits, although both of them still exhibit a more melodic style than the one that would characterize them a few years later.
