• Already a successful mime artist, Jacques Tati began making short films in the 1930s, created his first feature length film, "Jour de Fęte” in 1947 and then began work developing the most enduring comic character in French cinema – Monsieur Hulot

• Tati's films relied not on conventional dialogue but on a marriage between carefully constructed scenes and music/sound effects. Included here are the complete scores to the films as well as a collection of sound clips, anecdotes and unreleased material from the composer Georges Delarue
