• Elin Synnove Brathen is a young, Oslo-based singer-songwriter who was born in the north of Norway. ‘The Anchor and the Dream’ is her debut album under her own name, following the release of ‘Earthly Delights’ as lead singer & songwriter of the band Eliksir in 2007.

• On this album she uses folk, jazz and even classical elements within a pop/light rock setting, with her clear, haunting voice taking the limelight. She sings in english, except one track in Chinese Mandarin ! This and the Eliksir album were produced by Øystein Sevåg, the well-known musician, composer, producer, who also plays piano on both albums, with other top musicians. There is a Norwegian male voice choir on one track.

• Elin’s music has been likened to artists like Kate Bush, Radka Toneff, Mari Boine, Tori Amos, Clannad, Enya, Joni Mitchell, Loreena McKennitt, to mention only a few. Elin has won an EMA UK Best Video award in 2008, appeared on Sky TV, has been on several UK compilations including a trance remix by Alien in Transit on “Poolside Anthems Vol.2”, which reached 14 on the UK House Chart in 2008.
