• The gifted saxophonist has composed 10 new songs, from his rich palette of influences, but this time he has placed emphasis on vocals, with six of the titles featuring American singer Stéphanie McKay, who adds her infusion of gentle soul grooves and haunting lead sequences.

• What strikes you immediately with Jacques Schwarz-Bart, or ‘Brother Jacques’ as his peers have dubbed him, is his depth : powerful, tumultuous, flamboyant. His tenor saxophone unleashes a rush of stubborn notes that come rolling out like a flood after the storm. It combines both the funk of James Brown and the lyricism of John Coltrane.

• After having been a first-call accompanist who could be heard behind people as diverse as Roy Hargrove, Herbie Hancock, Erykah Badu, D’Angelo or Meshell Ndegeocello, he now travels the world as the leader of his own group.

• After two albums ‘Soné Ka-La’ (2006) and ‘Abyss’ (2008) where he gave birth to ‘Gwoka-Jazz’ : a subtle marriage between jazz and rhythms from Guadeloupe, Jacques Scwharz-Bart is once again exploring new musical territories.
