• The Congolese pianist-vocalist-composer, Ray Lema, recorded this engaging 2007 studio album with bass-guitarist Etienne Mbappe and drummer Francis Lassus. It’s an eclectic blend of styles : African, jazz, pop and World Music - instrumentals and songs, sung in French or English.

• Lema includes two compositions in tribute to recently departed friends : a track called “Ali Farka Toure”, and his own version of "C’est une Garonne", a song which he wrote for Claude Nougaro.

• Ray Lema was born in what was then Zaire, in 1946. His initial musical training was classical, at a Catholic seminary. He was later to live in both the USA and Paris - and work in a variety of musical settings - appearing & recording with Manu Dibango, Les Voix Bulgares, Joachim Kuhn, Tyour Gnaoua, and many others. For a number of years he was signed to the Island record label.
