• Louisiana singer, guitarist and composer Dale Hawkins is a true hero of rock & roll. His debut LP from 1958 “Oh! Suzy-Q” is a true classic. The record helped define exactly what was (and was not) rock & roll.

• Hawkins absorbed influences like a sponge, especially from black music. His swamp rock gem, "Susie-Q," crackles with manic energy & images of the US South. The song has since been covered by the likes of The Rolling Stones, The Velvet Underground, Bruce Springsteen, and most famously, Creedence Clearwater Revival in 1968.

• This definitive & remastered edition includes Hawkins’ most famous and essential album plus 12 bonus tracks from his early and best years on the Checker Record label (1956-59)

• These splendid recordings feature a virtual who's who of great sidemen including Willie Dixon, James Burton, Roy Buchanan, Lafayette Leake and Elvis' original sidemen Scotty Moore and D.J. Fontana, among others.
