• The multi-award winning guitarist, Pierre Bensusan, celebrates his 35th career anniversary and now releases a 10th solo album, entitled “Vividly” - a showcase of his rich and multi-cultural world, where guitar instrumentals share the spectrum with songs, in French and English.
• Pierre's instrumentals continue to astonish us with their virtuosic, melodic, and unique musical vocabulary. His inspired songs, too (most with lyrics by his wife, Doatea Cornu Bensusan, who also co-produces) : "La Java du Concessionaire" tells the story of a car breakdown, with music from his ‘Paris Musette’ heritage. Then a song dedicated to the Algerian writer, Djemila Benhabib, a brave advocate of Arabic women’s rights - with the female Malian griot singer Mah Damba, and French Canadian Claudette Deslonchamps joining Pierre; and “The In Between”, a love song in English, with lyrics by Nina Swan, a Los Angeles friend and former backing vocalist for many international acts.
• There are several other guests on the album : Gan Guo, the Chinese ErHu master (traditional 2-string violin), playing on 2 songs; Franck Sitbon, keyboards; Michel Benita, double bass, and Hector Gomez, percussion. As well as guitar, Pierre, at times, also plays bass, percussion and sings harmonies.
• All the music of "Vividly" is original, and arrangements will be available from Pierre’s website, in the original DADGAD tuning, but also soon in Standard tuning transcriptions. On ‘Vividly’, Pierre plays on his brand new Signature guitar model, The New Lady, designed by Northern Irish luthier Georges Lowden, based on his original Lowden guitar, The Old Lady.
• Pierre Bensusan’s full CD back-catalogue has been reissued over the past 12 months; and he has just completed a 21-date tour of the UK and Ireland, in September, October & November, 2010. |
