• Bill Perkins, who was a member of both the Woody Herman and Stan Kenton outfits in the ‘50s, affected a relaxed and elegant style which made him a natural for the active West coast scene.

• On these tracks from 1956 he teams up firstly with fellow tenor sax player Richie Kamuca in company with the original Hampton Hawes trio (Red Mitchell - bass, Mel Lewis - drums). On four numbers Art Pepper’s alto is the second horn while the rhythm section consists of Jimmy Rowles (p), Ben Tucker (b) & Mel Lewis (d).
