• The Frémeaux label have done an admirable job of compiling the complete chronological recordings of major artists such as Django Reinhardt, Louis Armstrong and Mahalia Jackson. Now they turn their attention to Charlie Parker

• Volume one is a 3 CD set beginning with Parker's first recording in 1940 and closing with the Dizzy Gillespie quintet in 1945. These tracks, like several others included here, were private recordings. The rest of the material comes from studio dates or radio transcriptions

• Detailed booklet with full discography

Reviews
Blues & Rhythm - Norman Darwen
All in all, an absolutely fascinating time capsule, capturing not only the evolution of one of the real innovators of jazz, but also a snapshot of a vibrant jazz and relatively sophisticated blues scene
Jazz Rag - Greg Murphy
There is so much good music to be heard here.
Jazz Journal - Mark Gardner
It's a joy to be able to share that experience in such concentrated and comprehensive form. Do not miss it.
Jazzwise - Roy Carr
The real gems are to be found on disc three, where Bird is featured on Dizzy Gillespies's marvellous cornerstone recordings that include Groovin' High, All The Things You Are, Dizzy Atmosphere, Salt Peanuts, Shaw Nuff' and Hot House.
