• For the first time ever on any format, Bill Evans’ final recordings, and probably the last notes he ever played. Evans was booked to play with his trio for five nights at the New York club Fat Tuesday’s in September 1980. He completed the two sets, included here, during his first night, on September 10, but called in sick the following day and died on September 15, at the age of 51.

• In early 1979, Bill Evans’ beloved brother Harry committed suicide. The pianist was devastated and began a run that would lead to his own death on September 15, 1980.

• “The only thing I'm afraid of is death. When I was eighteen or nineteen I could have died. I was ready for death. Today, I'm not ready anymore. I've lost too much time as it is.” - Bill Evans, Jazz Magazine, 1965.

• Personnel : Bill Evans, piano; Marc Johnson, bass; Joe LaBarbera, drums - Fat Tuesday’s, New York, September 10, 1980.

• Total Time: 76:36 - 13 tracks - Includes 16-page booklet.

• (These historically important recordings come from amateur audience tapes. Although the sound quality is very good throughout, some small imperfections exist. Every effort has been made to correct these imperfections through the use of modern technologies.)

Reviews
Jazz Rag - Les Tomkins
the fact that he included eight of his own originals will be an added reason for his army of devotees to want to hear this ultimate event.
Jazz Journal - Derek Ansell
This is an important record, musically and historically. The music is some of the most intense and inventive of the pianist's later years.
