• The complete original 1960 Art Pepper album ‘Gettin’ Together’ (originally on the Contemporary label). Following the trend of his earlier LP, ‘Art Pepper Meets the Rhythm Section’, the saxophonist is paired here with the Miles Davis Quintet rhythm section of the period, consisting of Wynton Kelly, Paul Chambers and Jimmy Cobb, plus trumpeter Conte Candoli on three tracks.

• A complete 1956 quintet session featuring Bill Perkins and Jimmy Rowles has been added as a bonus.

• The quartet’s chemistry and the sublime quality of the ‘Meets the Rhythm Section’ session encouraged Pepper to repeat the experience and record this second album with the Miles Davis Quintet rhythm section three years later.

• However, shortly after this session, Pepper would be sentenced to prison on a drug charge and sent to San Quentin, where he would stay until 1964. He would serve a second sentence there in 1964-65. Pepper’s actual rehabilitation would take longer than his prison sentence. After the 1960 album Intensity, he wouldn’t record a studio session under his own name until 1973.
