• Volume 9 of this terrific series continues the Louis Armstrong story

• Jeepers Creepers was sung to a horse in the film "Going Places" but most of the rest of the material on this three CD set is from Decca studio sessions

• This was very much the age of the big band – there are some tracks with the Mills Brothers and with the Hot Seven but the majority of the sides were cut wih his own orchestra
