From the BBC radio archives, a classic production of Anton Chekhov's famous play - due to be revived by the National Theatre in 2011 - in which Madame Ranevskaya must face the sale of her beloved orchard, and the whole family estate, in order to pay off mounting debts. This 1974 production features Gwen Ffrangcon-Davies, Sinead Cusack, Anna Massey, Patricia Routledge and Andrew Sachs amongst the cast.
