• Originally released in 1961. Ray Charles had become a familiar name on the hit parade but still kept one foot in the jazz camp. He recorded this big band album over a two-day session with several members of the Count Basie Orchestra. Phil Guilbeau is featured extensively on trumpet, and Ray played the Hammond B3 organ for the first time on a recording.
• One Mint Julep became Ray’s first instrumental hit, reaching #1 on the R&B charts and #8 on the pop charts
