• Andreas Bjorkas is an award-winning, Norwegian hardanger fiddle virtuoso from the Oppdal region - an alpine community, 430 kilometers north of Oslo - a crossroads of regional folk music styles.

• On this album, Bjorkas plays dance tunes, folk songs, ballads, waltzes - some contemporary, but many from the late 19th century and throughout the 20th century - often based on pieces passed down from gypsies, travellers & local fiddlers.

• Bjorkas initially learned from local fiddlers, before meeting a number of top-class Norwegian folk musicians, while he was at high school. He then studied in Oslo at The Norwegian Academy of Music. He has performed in many different musical settings, both in Norway and internationally, and is a member of the well-known folk music group Nordafjells.

• This CD is primarily a solo recording, but he is joined by two excellent guest musicians on several tunes. Erlend Viken, violin, and Olav Christer Rossebo, guitar, mandola & mandolin.
