• Blind Note is a campaign for the benefit of blind and visually impaired children, and the group brings together the finest Belgian-based world music performers; each acclaimed musicians in their own right.

• The talented Senegalese artist Malick Pathé Sow (a big success at Womad UK 2009) contributes with the hoddu, a 2000-year old African lute; top Latin American percussionist, Osvaldo Hernandez (Mexico), who recorded with ‘Deep Forest’ among others; Vardan Hovanissian (Armenia), who regularly performs with Yasmin Levy, plays the haunting ‘duduk’; Karim Baggili, of Jordanian & Yugoslavian origin, an acclaimed Arabic oud player & guitarist; Emre Gültekin (Turkey) on a selection of Turkish lutes; and finally, the beautiful vocals of Talike Gelle (Madagascar) who performs in festivals all over Europe.

• At concerts, they play in complete darkness - both the musicians and audience can revel in the same challenge: attending a concert without seeing anything. Stripped of visual stimuli, the intimate solo pieces and virtuoso ensemble performances create an exquisite and rare ambience in complete darkness.

• Blind Note is an initiative of “Light for the World”, a European association of NGOs committed to saving eyesight in underprivileged parts of the world. Of the 37 million blind people in the world, 90% live in developing countries and 75 % of all these cases are treatable by relatively simple means. Money raised will go to these projects.
