• Rare album by the important bebop & post-bop, Italian tenor sax player, Eraldo Volonté, who was one of a small group of pioneering jazz players in Italy immediately after World War II.

• Born in Milan in 1922, he studied violin at the Conservatory, switching later to sax. In 1948, Volontè participated with Gilberto Cuppini and Giorgio Gaslini at a festival in Florence and at the International Festival of Jazz in San Remo Jazz Festival alongside artists like Buddy Collette and Bill Russo, with his own quintet.

• He was soon to be strongly influenced by John Coltrane. ‘My Point of View’, recorded in Milan, May & November 1963, is one of Volonté’s best albums, and an Italian jazz classic.

• Personnel : Eraldo Volonté (tenor sax), Renato Sellani (piano), Giorgio Azzolini (bass), Lionello Bionda (drums).
