Founded by experienced chamber musicianssteeped in the standards and style of the classic Russianschool, the Kopelman Quartet carries forward a richinheritance of technical excellence, lyricism, grace andmusical integrity.
Mikhail Kopelman, Boris Kuschnir, Igor Sulyga andMikhail Milman all graduated from the MoscowConservatoire in the 1970's, this institution's goldenage, when the students regularly worked withmusicians and teachers such as David Oistrakh, BorisBelenky, Yuri Yankelevich, Fyodor Druzhinin, DmitriShostakovich, Mstislav Rostropovich and NataliaGutman. These strong musical influences haveremained with the members of the Kopelman Quartet,even though they pursued individual careers fortwenty-five years before founding the quartet in 2002.

ELIZAVETA KOPELMANElizaveta Kopelman was born in Moscow in 1974 intoa family of musicians. She studied at the Central Schoolof Music with Dina Parakhina and then in the UKwithArnaldo Cohen at the Royal Northern College ofMusic, where she won numerous prizes and awards. Inthe past few years she has performed extensivelythroughout the US, Europe and the Middle East;highlights include tours of Italy, Spain and Hollandwith the Kopelman Quartet, performances of Arenskyand Tchaikovsky piano trios at the Concertgebouw andalso performs regularly with her father, violinistMikhail Kopelman.
