• This is a reissue of ‘Like Life’ - the album Django Bates recorded in Denmark, in 1997, after receiving the prestigious Jazzpar Award.

• This is his Delightful Precipice group (18 musicians on this occasion) : including Iain Ballamy on alto and soprano, tenor-saxophonist Tomas Franck, guitarist Chico Lindvall, Michael Mondesir (bass), Martin France (drums, electric drums), Uffe Markussen (tenor saxophone, piccolo flute), Michael Hove (soprano saxophone, baritone saxophone), Django Bates (keyboards, Eb horn, vocal) and many others.

• There are 5 pieces by the band and on a further six numbers they are joined by the Danish Radio Jazz Orchestra. All compositions, bar one, are by Django Bates. Bates has a special sound : the component parts including seriousness, satire, harmonic ingenuity, rhythmic dynamism & expert orchestration.

• Django Bates, born in 1960, featured in the groups Borderline, First House and Earthworks, as well as his own group Human Chain. He was also a leading member of Loose Tubes, and formed the large ensemble Delightful Precipice in 1990.
