Added, as a bonus, is the complete album ‘Mingus in Wonderland’ (originally United Artists), recorded by a Charles Mingus Quintet live at New York’s Nonagon Jazz Gallery in 1959.

Mingus remains - like Ellington, Monk and Sun Ra - a figure beyond category and there is perhaps no better illustration than the 1960 material heard here. As the label says, essential.
