• There is no doubting the authenticity of pianist Ernest Lane’s musical credentials. Born in the heart of Delta blues country in Clarksdale, Mississippi he received, along with childhood pal Ike Turner, occasional piano tuition from family friend Pinetop Perkins. He recorded with Robert Nighthawk for Chess records and later joined the Ike and Tina Turner Revue

• After a spell away from music he joined Ike Turner again and now, following Ike's death, leads his former backing band the Kings of Rhythm

• There is no sign here that age has in any way diminished Ernest Lane’s abilities. He is in fine form on both piano and vocals and the set includes some stirring instrumentals
