• The Electric Balkan Jazz Club was founded in November 2009 by Costas Simeonidis (electronics) and Kostas Karagiozidis (accordion, bouzouki, oud, saz, bass etc) - with the idea of creating a crossover of electronic and experimental music with traditional music from the Balkans and the Orient, combined with other world music influences.
• The group is based in Mannheim, and their in-demand concerts feature eight musicians with five different nationalities playing Balkan hymns, rembetiko classics, jazz standards and folk music - plus their own compositions, sung in many different eastern European languages.
• ‘Balkan Dogs’, their début album, is a perfect example of the Orient meeting the Occident, and tradition meeting modernity. By combining jazz, folk, swing, rock, drum & bass and electro, the album achieves a seamless blend of traditional and experimental.
• More than 15 musicians from Greece, Serbia, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Romania, Turkey and Germany play more than 30 instruments on Balkan Dogs - and the songs are sung in Greek, Macedonian, Serbian, Turkish and Roma-dialects.

| Songlines - Nathaniel Handy |
| This is a raucous, dirty mix of Balkan traditional tunes overlaid with hefty slices of rock guitar, drum'n'bass beats and jazzy New York brass. *** |
