Aleh Ferreira is a Brazilian singer & songwriter, from Rio de Janeiro. He is a samba artist, but one who is influenced by soul and black music. He is a fine mandolinist, and plays most instruments in the guitar family. He is also a classical composer who has written individual concertos for flute, cello and clarinet, and other compositions.
On this album, he takes the essence of the samba music and adds his rich, modern, sophisticated style to it - his warm vocals backed by his own acoustic guitar playing, with support from flutes, guitars, keyboards, percussion, and occasional alto sax.
With authentic rhythms, strong melodies and intelligent lyrics he creates modern but timeless samba, incorporating touches of pop, Afro-beat, and the ever-present jazz in the genre.
Guests on this album include : Pretinho Da Serrinha, Wilson das Neves, Zeca da Cuica and Carlinhos 7 cordas.
Aleh & his band played several successful London gigs, in May 2011.
Aleh Ferreira has worked with many leading names of Brazilian music, including : Toquinho, Nelson Cavaquinho, Ataulfo Alves J๚nior, Moreira da Silva, Z้ Keti, & Emilinha Borba.
