• Tenor saxman Jakob ‘Dino’ Dinesen is not only one of Denmark’s leading musicians, he is also one of the most active - collaborating on recordings with African and Cuban bands, singer-songwriters, jazz & pop vocalists, jazz fusion & swing groups, and not least his own trio and quartet.

• His involvement with Cuban and African musicians in Denmark led Dinesen to visit Cuba (many times) and Gambia, Senegal and Mali - and his long-standing ‘dream’ has been to combine these favourite genres on one recording.

• The realization of this is “En Amorado En Copenhague” which finds Dino leading a vibrant project involving kora player Dawda Jobarteh from Gambia, the vocals of Raisa Reyes Castro and Thomas Helmig, three outstanding Cuban percussionists, plus trumpet, trombone, bass and drums.

• Dinesen combines these elements brilliantly, placing Danish jazz in the centre of an orgy of Afro-Cuban rhythms, with songs from both Cuba and Denmark - and this album emphasizes how cultural integration comes naturally in an atmosphere devoid of prejudice and closed minds.
