• The eldest of Bing Crosby's sons became, almost inevitably, part of the entertainment business from his early teens, achieving considerable success as an actor and singer. His career declined from the late ’60s but at the time of these 1959 records he was still enjoying the limelight.

• On the first LP an 11 piece band conducted and arranged by Marty Paich provides the swinging framework for Crosby's interpretations of well-known bluesy tunes, while on the second arranger Bunny Botkin uses a quartet with guitar with the occasional addition of a trumpet or vibes.
