• ‘Band on a Mission’ is the cooking new album by the well-established UK band Push : awesome purveyors of hard grooving Funk. Soul legends Candi Staton and Hamish Stuart (Average White Band) guest on a track each, plus rising UK vocal star, Daniel Pearce.

• Push was formed in late 1987 and pioneered the London ‘Rare Groove’ Scene along with The Brand New Heavies, The Young Disciples and Soul II Soul. They released their first track ‘Traffic’ on ‘Acid Jazz and other Illicit Grooves’ (1988 Polydor) - to great acclaim, and from this record the Acid Jazz movement emerged.

• Push toured Japan in 1989 for Gilles Peterson under the Acid Jazz banner, and the Push rhythm section of Crispin Taylor, Ernie McKone and Mark Vandergucht were recruited by Galliano in 1990 and proceeded to tour the world selling in excess of 800,000 albums for the band.

• Push sax player Jacko Peake has worked with Paul Weller; trumpeter Damon Brown is an internationally respected jazz musician; and Push, with keyboard player Mick Talbot, are Candi Staton’s European touring band.

• They supported George Clinton’s Funkadelic in June 2011; and have also backed Marlena Shaw for the last 7 years on her UK visits, as well as Martha Reeves, Kim Weston, and N'Dambi.

• Push continue to perform in the UK and Europe and their legendary live shows have gained a reputation that is second to none.
