• The two albums on this CD are the only existing recordings of singer Mel Tormé accompanied by the great Art Pepper, whose sound fits particularly well with Tormé’s voice. The arrangements are by the celebrated Marty Paich, who worked with Torme many times.

• ‘Swings Shubert Alley’ (1960) contains a selection of Broadway standards that became part of jazz repertoire; ‘Back In Town’ which is a reunion of the famous Tormé vocal group, The Mel-Tones, which made its first recordings in 1944.
