• Along with his regular star partners, Drew Gress (bass) and Jochen Rueckert (drums), the American pianist, Marc Copland, has recorded “Some More Love Songs” – seven years after the same trio recorded their first successful album of instrumental versions of well-known love songs (PIT3015).

• Once again, the trio surprises, enthralls, and delights with sparklingly beautiful interpretations laced with multi-layered intimacy. The CD begins with a composition by singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell and ends with Victor Young’s ‘When I Fall in Love’. In between, are Richard Rogers’ ‘My Funny Valentine’, Cole Porter’s ‘I’ve Got You Under My Skin’, Victor Schertzinger’s ‘I Remember You’, a Ron Carter piece, and one of Copland’s own.

• The results: extraordinarily subtle and multi-layered trio-jazz played with a virtuosity concealed within vibrantly imagined lines of the songs. Above all, this is music that breathtakingly pierces the heart of love time and time again.
