• The great Argentinian guitarist Oscar Aleman was influenced by both Latin American and swing music. As a child he worked as a street entertainer in Brazil but eventually found success in Europe, working for several years with Josephine Baker's troupe, recording with a variety of bands and becoming friends with Django Reinhardt . He returned to Argentina at the outbreak of war.
• These later Argentinian tracks include his very last recordings. On a mix of Brazilian and jazz standards his playing is as superbly inventive as ever
