• The mournful pedal-steel, the Laurel Canyon references and classic country-rock harmonies would tempt most listeners to assume that Kalli are sun-kissed Californians... but no, not even warm : the ‘band’ is Karl "Kalli" Henry....from Iceland.
• However, he did travel as far as Nashville to take advantage of using top session players including : Buddy Spicher, Hargus ‘Pig’ Robbins and ‘Gentleman’ Lloyd Green, Bob Moore, JD Blair, Guthrie Trapp, Nathan Thomas, Jeff Taylor, Chris Henry, and Jonell Mosser - who certainly give the perfect restrained backing to Kalli’s haunting vocals.
• ‘Last Train Home’ is Karl Henry’s second solo outing - previously he was the front man of Icelandic band Without Gravity, who also used a singer-songwriter approach with a twist of country and Americana.
• ....a fireside glow of twinkling guitars and occasional haunted harmonica. The Eagles would be proud. - Andy Gill, The Independent.
