• The Shrouded Strangers, now a duo, are based in Washington DC, having relocated originally from Virginia. They were previously sociopathic proto-punks The Carlsonics, and then incandescent psych-folkies Nethers.
• Their new album ‘Lost Forever’, recorded in California, is a strange, consistently damaged, and very-occasionally beautiful collection of disembodied pop-rock tunes, psych-surf sing-a-longs, and fuzzed-out hillbilly stomps - involving much sweating around an 8-track machine, dropping white noise atop sputtering Camaro/Casio freak-outs, plus sea shanties about botched mutinies, and discomforting childhood hallucinations.
• The best psych-rock record i’ve heard this year..... ‘Lost Forever’ is absorbing and hypnotic – it works as a full album experience - Got A Backbeat, blog.
