Reykjavik Chamber Orchestra conductor Bernardur Wilkinson

Since the Reykjavik Chamber Orchestra was founded more than 40 years ago, it has performed well over 200 works by around Icelandic composers. The recordings on this release provide a cross section of works that the orchestra has made in recent years, and the choice of composers bears witness to the rich talent that radiates out of Iceland. Berhardur Wilkinson began his musical studies at an early age as a chorister at Westminster Abbey and entered the Royal Northern College of Music in 1969. He was appointed to the Iceland Symphony Orchestra in 1975 and since performed frequently as solist/conductor with various ensembles. He has been very active with the Reykjavik Chamber Orchestra both as a flautist and as conductor, recording a number of CDs and toured several countries under his direction.
