ē Patti Page, the blond singer with a voice as smooth as gossamer, may have been small in stature, but as regards the popularity of her records, stood head and shoulders above her contemporaries. She was the best-selling female artist of the nineteen-fifties and in a career spanning over sixty years, she sold over one hundred million records. Her first entry into the American Popular Music Charts came on June 26th 1948, Pattiís version of “Confess” was more popular than that of the combined talents of Doris Day and Buddy Clark. Patti became famous for her over-dubbing. For example, she sang a duet with herself on “Mockiní Bird Hill”, a trio with herself on “Mister And Mississippi” and a quartet with herself on “And So To Sleep,Again”, all big hits. On this CD you will find extracts from five of her albums, twenty-seven golden examples of her stylish alto voice.
