‘Travelling’ is one of those rare gem projects, produced by people with real flair and honouring professionals with multi-faceted talents.
In this case, it was the idea of UniFrance, the national body charged with looking after the interests of French film on the international scene, to present the pick of French acting talent in a different spotlight; the result is the exposure of the singing capabilities of a number of cinematic leading lights.
Julie Depardieu and Catherine Deneuve, Arielle Dombasle and Julie Delpy, Lambert Wilson and Benjamin Biolay. Most (or all) of these names will have some familiarity to aficionados of French Cinema, but the title stands its own ground anyway as a collection of fine French songs in a variety of environments.
